Getting in Touch With Acupuncture for Infertility

By Jennifer Hanlop

It is not uncommon for people to think of acupuncture and instantaneously associate the thought with having wire thin needles pressed into the skin, and specifically the face, as if they have begun growing long whiskers they never wanted. Actually, it is probable that most people consider this thought. Yet, what most do not realize is the way in which acupuncture for infertility and acupuncture for a whole host of other aches and pains is so common today.

Until now, that is.

After all, it is taking for granted the strategy that is involved in an acupuncturist's work. It is often referred to as this bizarre inserting of wire needles rather than the paradigm and order that is actually involved. In fact, you can't assume that just putting needles in your face would simply help certain problems go away. That would be impossible.

It is based simply on the pinpointing of spots on a person's body. Once these spots or locales are pinpointed, a needle no thicker than a piece of piano wire is carefully inserted into the skin. Then, the trend continues until the right amount of needles have been placed on the right amount of spots, as if following a map.

Its effectiveness may vary from patient to patient for any number of circumstances, but what can't be denied is how different acupuncture is from Western medicines. Since it is an alternative form of medicine, it does not rely on prescribed dosages of expensive drugs, or invasive forms of surgery with crippling recovery times. In the instance of acupuncture for infertility, the pinpointing occurs near where a woman would conceive and the needles are inserted with a few main intentions, all of which are addressed in one treatment. They include increased functioning of the ovaries and follicular phase, and increased blood flow to the region a woman would conceive. By creating these conducive environments, a woman's chances can increase significantly.

Many women looking to have these sorts of results will consult with the use of specially engineered fertility treatments. However, the more expensive ones can range from ten thousand dollars to twenty thousand dollars and are not guaranteed to ever work. Acupuncture, which costs only a few hundred, can be used in concert with these treatments or on its own.

Additionally, according to a German study in 2002, results of women trying to conceive were tracked between those who had specialized treatments versus specialized treatments with acupuncture. In the cases with acupuncture the difference was significantly more successful.

Considering these recent statistics, and the lack of side effects, acupuncture for infertility is really an easy treatment that is quite hard to rule out. And probably even harder when you consider the feeling of not being able to conceive. If you are going to try out acupuncture though, it is best you take on a couple considerations. The first is budgeting. It is important to know what you are willing to spend. The second is consulting a doctor. It is important to have a secure timeline about what is going on. Other than though, what do you have to lose?
